Catching Fire Essay

Do you want to know who's defiant in the Hunger Games? Well read on to find out. My essay is going to be about who is defiant in the Hunger Games from Cinna, Peeta, Katniss, and the tributes. And in the end you can tell me in your own opinion who was the most defiant. Was is the girl on fire? Was it the person who turned the capitol citizens against their own President? Was the unity? Or was it the mockingjay? Who do you think?
Katniss during her private session she hung a dummy of Seneca Crane. This was rebellious because she is sending a message that even the game makers are not safe. And also Seneca Crane died because she out-smarted him in the games. She did this on purpose not on accident sending a message. The text evidence that supports my thinking is she wanted to "break through the smug venear of those who use their brains to find amazing ways to kill. To make them realize that while (they) were vulnerable to the Capitol's cruelties, they as well." This was on page 236 in our Catching Fire book.
Peeta during the interview said that he and Katniss were already married and that she was pregnant. This act is considered rebellious because this action turns the Capitols citizens against the games. They demanded change. He did this to try to get out of the games for Katniss and him. The text evidence to support my thinking is he said " if it weren't for the baby... it seems accusations of injustice and barbarism and cruelty flying out in every direction. Even the most capitol-loving, Games-hungry, bloodthirsty person out there can't ignore, at least for a moment, how horrific the whole thing is... try to make sense of the commotion far below us on the streets." This piece of text evidence was on page 256 in our Catching Fire book.
The tributes in the end of the interview when the Capitol Anthem song was playing, all of them held hands and held them up to show the Capitol that the districts were united and will not stand for the bull-crap of the games of the Capitol. The text evidence that supports my thinking is "It's too late, though. In the confusion they didn't cut us off in time. Everyone has seen... First public show of unity among the districts since the Dark Days." This piece of text evidence was on page 258 in our Catching Fire book.
Cinna he turns her wedding dress that President Snow has specially made for her and told her he wanted to have it just the way it is and told her to wear it during the interview because he thinks it's her last week or so of living. Almost like giving closure to the citizens of the Capitol. But Cinna "ruined" the dress by turning the dress into the mockingjay. Burning the remains of the dress and turning it into something beautiful. It is defiant because it is promoting the rebellion for her "final finally". It is technically saying yeah keep rebelling. It turned the whole thing into a symbol of rebellion on national T.V. The text evidence to support my thinking is "Because Cinna turned me into the Mockingjay... "It's the bird on the pin I wear as token." A shadow of recognition flickers across Ceasar's face, and I can tell he knows that the mockingjay isn't just my token. That it's come to symbolize so much more." This piece of text evidence was located on page 252 and 253.
I think the most defiant act that President Snow would consider most defiant or should I say 2 acts would be Cinna's and Peeta's. Cinna' s act would be one of the most considered defiant acts because he turned something as harmless as a wedding dress into something much much more. As a symbol of a rebellion. Promoting it even. Which is not something you should do. He showed everyone that the rebellion still exist no matter what and nothing President Snow does will demolish it or dim the fire or flame that Katniss has brought on. And knowing what he was doing could get him hurt or even worse killed, he still did it. Standing up for what you well in this case Cinna believed in. In which now he suffered for his actions. Which President Snow killed him for it.  The 2nd act I would consider most rebellious would of course be Peeta's action. What he did was something. He could turn the capitols most for-giving, bloodthirsty, hungry-gaming citizens against the capitol. By telling them 6 simple words. If it weren't for the baby. Then chaos started happening and the capitol citizens started yelling and demanding to President Snow that he shut off the games. Which of course he didn't. But that didn't change the citizens actions they even rebelled. Which is not like them. But since I have stated the most defiant actions (in my own opinion) I am concluding this paragraph/and or essay.
